As the summer comes to a close, fitsmi.com shares its top five tips to help overweight teen girls start out the new school year with a positive attitude and a plan to get on a healthy track.

Tip #1: Be confident. Confidence is your best accessory. Sport your cutest duds, hold your head high, and smile like you?re on top of the world. Before you know it, you?ll be feeling as confident as you look.

Tip #2: Eat breakfast. Every day. No exceptions. Girls who eat a good breakfast feel more alert and focused. Skipping breakfast leaves you famished by lunch, meaning you?ll be tempted to eat more than you would otherwise.

Tip #3: Make time to move. Breaking a sweat will keep you fit during those stressful months (and wailing on a punching bag can help to get all that drama out of your system and restore your sanity). Win-win.

Tip #4: Kick peer pressure to the curb. It?s all around you, telling you what to wear, what to say, what to eat, what to weigh. Sometimes it feels as though the pressure won?t stop until everyone in your class looks and acts exactly the same. You don?t have to be cookie-cutter. Show off the things that make you, well, different.

Tip #5: Brown bag it. Skip the lunch line and pack your own fresh feast at home. Include salads, whole-wheat sandwiches, hummus and veggies, even leftovers from dinner. Your waistline will thank you later.

?Through our fitsmi Summer Change Me Challenge, we encouraged girls to set some goals around eating and exercising and track them by using the fitsmi Change Machine,? explained Adriana Willsie, Editor of fitsmi.com. ?Now that the new school year is here, we?re happy that we can continue to support all teen girls struggling with being overweight but willing to make small changes that add up to big results. As one participant said, ?I like how I feel? which is what we want for all our current and future fitsmi members.?
